IMMERSE working with SOAR

This past summer a few IMMERSE students organized and hosted a Lab Tour for a group of 36 SOAR 2008 students. SOAR, or Summer of Academic Refinement, is a five-day college preparation program sponsored by the Multicultural Student Services at Brigham Young University (BYU). One of its objectives is to inform students of educational benefits and expectations at BYU. As part of the SOAR program, students are given an opportunity to visit various colleges and departments throughout the BYU campus. Students who chose to visit the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECEN) department learned about LASERS and fiber optics, built a simple circuit and challenged each other to a wafer quiz.
