How do I set up wireless internet on my laptop?
If you are in a wireless-enabled area, Windows should automatically connect to the network. However, before being able to access the internet, you will have to authenticate with BYU. To do this, open up a web browser to http://www.byu.edu . You will be redirected to an authentication screen, and prompted to enter your Net ID and password. After authenticating, you should be able to access the internet normally.

How do I get my laptop DVD player working on a classroom projector?
Please refer to the "Playing DVDs on an External Display" troubleshooting tips.

Can I get Matlab installed on my laptop?
Yes, you can. Contact the ECEn SysOps for help installing and configuring Matlab for your laptop.

Can I use Matlab without being connected to the BYU network?
That depends on which toolboxes you are using. Some of them require that you be connected to the BYU network in order to obtain a license from the license server. If a toolbox you are using falls under the "Network License" category, you won't be able to use Matlab with it unless you are connected to the BYU network. Other toolboxes have "unlimited" licenses, and can be used freely.

Note that it is possible to access the license server from off campus by using the CAEDM VPN. See the CAEDM VPN FAQ for more information.
